Most of my books start the same way, somewhere between mile seven and mild heatstroke.
I’ve spent countless hours hiking, rucking, and running through forests, mountains, and the occasional swamp, keeping myself entertained by inventing stories in my head. A Cabin for Christmas was born during a 20-mile jog through San Felasco, when I was dreaming about escaping to a cozy mountain cabin while very much melting in the Florida heat.
Travel has been my greatest teacher and my favorite source of inspiration. From learning about Amish life in Lancaster, to standing in the chilly silence of a Colorado valley waiting to hear elk bugle, to soaking up the creative chaos of Austin, every experience finds its way into my pages somehow. Sometimes it’s the smell of wood smoke, sometimes it’s a quirky shopkeeper or a conversation overheard in a café... And sometimes it’s just the feeling of being somewhere entirely new, that spark of curiosity that makes you want to stay a little longer.
Whether it’s London’s charm, Paris’s romance, or Austria’s mountain magic, I bring those places home with me in words. Writing has become my way to relive my memories again and again, and to blend the real and the imagined into stories that I hope make you feel something warm, familiar, and maybe even a little adventurous.
I never expected to find so much joy in writing novels, but now I can’t imagine not doing it. Every trail, every trip, every ridiculous mishap, all turns into a story... eventually.
